| Who I Am...I've decided I'm going to star in my own life. So here is a quick summary of who I was, who I am, and who I hope to be. I began running in highschool when my rugby coach made us do a 6 minute mile run every Monday and noticed it took me closer to 5 minutes. He noticed that I had more talent in running then I did in rugby and suggested I run for the school track team. At the time I was the only 1 of 2 members of Malvern C. I.' s senior track team, there was also a shotput athlete. After a brief stint in track that season, I went back to rugby and a few years passed. In 2000, I sustained a torn ACL while playing rugby in England. After 2 months of rehab, and still missing my ACL, and with my doctors allowing me to run straight lines, I entered my first road race. I finished the Backs in Motion 10k in 46min38sec and in 39th place. Knee surgry followed, and I knew rugby was done for me, so I rehabed with running. One day I was introduced to Colin Inglis the coach at York while I was running, and from that day I began a 3year varsity career as a 1500m specialist, between 2001-2003. When university ended, and with my new teaching career ahead of me. I knew I would not be able to commit the necessary time to training that I would need to in order to personal best on the track and roads. So that is when I made the choice for quantity over quality, I would run a 1000 races before I turn 50, and use those races as speedwork. Now I train with the Boardwalk RC, a local club of masters age runners that has slowly evolved from a group of 2 back in 2004, and is continuing to evolve into much more. Wall - 0 followers
